Old Hemp's Lucky Day CGC TKI VHMA
"Penny"
Penny is Abigail’s daughter from my National Parks litter. She has OFA Good hips, Normal elbows, shoulders, and eyes. She is DNA tested and is a carrier of EAOD, clear for all else.
Penny is my largest female by a long shot, at 45lbs and probably around 22”.
Penny is co-owned with a dear friend of mine who gives her a wonderful life. While actively competing in sports hasn’t been a priority for her person at this time, Penny has still had a rich and well-rounded life full of exposure, socialization, and thoughtful training, and she’s proven herself time and again as a truly stable, sound, and joyful companion. She’s dabbled in both herding and agility, and has shown lovely instinct on stock as well as great promise in class settings. But where Penny really shines is in everyday life. She’s done extensive traveling, frequents patios and coffee shops, and has been a calm, steady presence at countless parties, events, and social gatherings. She’s a dog who can go anywhere, unbothered by noise, crowds, or chaos, and still remain soft, social, and easy to handle.
Penny is great with people of all ages and excellent with dogs. She’s very dog-savvy and socially aware, and as she’s matured, she’s become confident in setting appropriate boundaries with dogs who get too pushy or rude. She reads situations well and always responds fairly. She’s also got endless toy drive, especially for tugging, discs, and balls. Her bite is full and firm, and she loves a good, challenging game where you push her around and make it a little tougher. She’s a reliable catcher with moderate jumps and a lot of natural athleticism. She holds a CGC title and several trick titles, and brings a fun, lighthearted attitude to everything she does.
She is the dam of both the Apples and Oranges litters, and her puppies have grown into remarkably steady, even-keeled companions and excellent entry to high level sport dogs. Penny is a great example that titles don’t always tell the whole story. She’s proof that a well-rounded, stable, sound dog with the right genetics and temperament can still produce exceptional puppies, even without a long list of trial results.
I hope to have at least one more litter from Penny before she retires from breeding.
