"Alta"
Alta is from the Ruari x Abigail Flames litter. She has OFA Good hips, Normal elbows, shoulders, spine, patella, heart. You can view her hip x-ray here, which I think would have gone Excellent had she not been in heat at the time of the rads. She has been DNA tested through Optimal Selection and is a carrier of EAOD and clear for all else.
Alta is 28lbs and approximately 17" tall.
Alta lives in Northern California with one of my closest friends, Ashley, and is a treasured co-own in my program. I get to see her regularly and she never fails to make me smile. This petite powerhouse is thoughtful, steady, and full of potential.
Alta has focused most of her energy on herding, and it’s where she truly shines. She’s shown incredible natural feel and talent on stock, and every trainer who’s worked with her has commented on how lovely she is. She’s the kind of dog that reads the stock with precision and responds with calm, confident decisions. There’s nothing frantic or overstated about her: she’s sharp, cool-headed, and beautifully biddable.
She’s also dabbled in agility and disc, both of which she enjoys and picked up quickly. She’s a very intentional worker, not impulsive, not over-aroused, just thoughtful and tuned in. But don’t let that fool you into thinking she’s all business! Once she gets the sillies, it’s game on. She’s delightfully fun, and her joyful nature feels like such a gift layered on top of her steadiness.
Socially, Alta is extremely sweet and affectionate, has very few “warning labels”, and is very easy to live with. She’s just a lovely dog through and through. In many ways, she feels like a little clone of her dam, Abigail, which is exactly what Ashley had hoped for when she chose to get a puppy from Abbie’s final litter. We both adore her.
Alta is a co-own and will be a future part of our breeding program. She brings a quiet brilliance that balances so well with nearly any pairing, and I can’t wait to see what she produces someday.
