Our current wait time estimate for pups can be 1 to 2+ years.

I think the perfect dog is one who is ready to go when you are–if that's a weekend backpacking trip, herding on the farm, agility/obedience/freestyle and other dog sports, but is also a dog who can chill all day and have slow weeks (or even slow seasons!) and not become over-aroused or under-stimulated too easily. Of course, these working breeds like Border Collies, Border Collie mixes, and other working/sport dogs are super intelligent animals who should always have mental stimulation and thrive on training more than some breeds. But at a certain point, it can become a nuisance if your dog is nagging you all day, every day.
My number 1 goal in my program and dogs is stable temperaments that fit into today's world. Temperament is what affects us the most every day with dogs and is paramount to lifetime success. You can read in depth descriptions of all of my dogs and co-owns on their respective pages.
Health is also very high on my list of priorities and I perform extensive health testing on every dog in my program. My health testing standards are as follows:
Full panel DNA
OFA hips
OFA elbows
OFA shoulders
OFA spine
OFA heart
OFA patella
OFA eyes
I’ve been increasing my health testing standards over the years and I’m at a place I’m very happy with. Going forward, all of my breeding prospects (no matter the breed) will be screened to the standard listed above. I pride myself on offering above and beyond health testing in my program and test extensively outside of breed recommendations. All of my dog’s health results are publicly posted on their respective pages.
Functional and sound structure is another key component in my program, which leads to dogs staying physically sound for long successful careers. I have outside, unbiased and educated persons help me evaluate my dogs for functional structure.
My puppies are raised with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), Puppy Culture, and my own brand of enrichment and training which I have been refining over the years. Pups are well-started on potty training, crate training, leash training, clicker training, resource guarding prevention, the concept of operant conditioning and will have an established training relationship with humans. They will have been socialized to many different people and animals. Puppies come with included private lessons up to 6 months old, a health guarantee, are from health tested parents, and of course, lifetime breeder support and answers to any and all of your questions.
• Puppies are matched to homes at approximately 8 weeks old, after we do temperament testing.
• Matches are made based on the temperament and background of the puppy and goals/needs of the applicant.
• Matches are not made on a first-come first-served basis.
• I don’t accept any deposits or payments until applicants are approved and have been screened by phone.
• Visits by approved applicants are welcomed.
• Puppies are not shipped via cargo and must be picked up personally from our residence in Northern Nevada. Our nearest airport is Reno-Tahoe International. Plan for a good amount of time for pickup: to come to our home and visit a while, meet with the dogs, etc.
• Wait times can vary greatly, I am in the process of streamlining my application review. If there’s a litter pending or on the ground that you are interested in, please feel free to reach out regarding updates on your application.

My partner and I own and operate a private dog training business. It is our full-time work and is something we are very passionate about. Working from our home gives us ample time to raise puppies and put my full attention into puppy rearing. We try to set our puppies up for success in their future homes to the best of our ability. I expose the pups to lots of different noises, textures, surfaces, experiences, people, animals and most importantly, I give them a strong start to a training relationship and trust in their human. If your puppy has a strong relationship with you and knows to trust you as their advocate and partner, your lifetime of experiences together will be much better.
As dog trainers, we see many dogs with challenging behavioral issues and it is very rewarding to be able to remedy those issues and improve their owners' quality of life with them. But in my experience, there remains a huge gap between breeders and dog trainers which often goes untouched. Many breeders are not well versed on dog behavior or psychology and may not be well equipped to support their puppy owners in this way. On the extreme end of things, they may be unable to properly evaluate their puppy’s temperaments or their breeding stocks behavior.

Green and red flags to be aware of as you research breeders
Some green flags in breeders are:
- A breeder who is very forthcoming about their program and goals.
- If they have social media, they share videos of their adult/breeding dogs out in the world and around the house. Ideally you would be able to easily get to know their dogs and get a picture of what they are striving to produce and what puppies will be like as adults.
- They post or are willing to share videos of litters of puppies being enriched, trained, and the areas they are being raised in, and have detailed information on their milestones and individuality.
- Puppies are raised with Puppy Culture, Avidog or similar rearing methods.
- Their website (or relevant breeding page) contains easily accessible details about their dogs, including what parents produced which puppies, and easily accessible health testing and pedigree information. Or if they don't have a website/page, this information is clearly communicated and willingly shared.
- They are able to provide and communicate their intentions regarding the purpose of certain pairings and what types of homes puppies may be best suited for.
- They demonstrate a strong understanding of the behavior and history of their breed.
- Before any homes are approved, they have a thorough screening process for puppy applicants.
- They require contracts for their puppies and will take back any dogs they have produced at any time for any reason. The dogs they bring into the world always have a home with them.
- Breeders who have/are active on social media but don’t post much of their own dogs or litters of puppies, particularly if they aren’t posting videos.
- When breeders always have puppies on the ground, never take a break from having litters, have multiple litters at once regularly. Raising litters the right way is taxing! It takes a lot of time and effort.
- A breeder who regularly breeds very young dogs, especially if they are bred before health testing.
- Breeders who announce their litters by listing every possible color outcome from that pairing and who price puppies differently based on their color or sex.
- A breeder who allows people to choose their puppies themselves, especially on a first-come first-served basis.
- A breeder who matches homes while the puppies are still young and their temperaments cannot be predicted.
- A breeder who approves you without extensive screening.
- A breeder who is not familiar with behavioral dispositions and possible issues commonly associated with their breed.
I want to bridge that gap between breeder and behaviorist and create amazing dogs who are going to be ambassadors for not only my breeding program but also my training philosophy. I want to educate my puppy owners on all things dog. Nutrition, overall care like nail trims, teeth brushing, vaccines, spay/neuter, socialization, training, and how to properly advocate for your dog. How to be your dog's best friend and how to maintain a healthy relationship built on mutual understanding and clear communication.
I don't want you to have to go to the “internet dog gurus” or Google for your questions and concerns; I want you to feel comfortable coming to me. Your dog from me comes with 24/7 unlimited tech support and if you have a question, I will be a resource to help answer it. To help encourage this, I include unlimited online video lessons with me throughout your pup’s first 6 months. These lessons are a resource to help walk everyone through puppyhood. I am there as your support, to answer any and all questions, to help teach you and your puppy new skills, and to hold myself accountable for the success of the puppies I produce. Along with this, we offer a special preferred pricing for our other training services, like our board and trains. The training is very custom for each dog and each owner. You can view our training website here.

What it all boils down to at the end of the day is finding a breeder whose program aligns with the things that you value and are looking to find in your dog.
