My first BorderPap litter, such a long time coming! I'm so pleased to announce the Sprite x Calypso puppies. This is my first in house pairing where I own both the sire and dam, which is also something we'll be seeing more of as my program continues to develop and grow. It's nice to own or at least be very familiar with both parents of a litter, as you know the dogs well and can make better predictions on how the pups will be! With this litter, I know these are going to be some very high drive, super sporty, outgoing, confident, sassy, fun loving dogs.
Sprite is one of my Papillons whom I imported once he was already grown up, so while I wasn't a part of his puppyhood, I have been able to get to know him and test him in a lot of different ways. He's a big dog in a little dog body! Extremely confident, forward, and friendly. He holds his own among any dogs and absolutely loves all people. He's the guy who is in your lap, in your face, giving kisses, bouncing around and making everyone laugh. He has a ton of toy drive and great food drive as well. He isn't a sensitive or soft dog, especially for a Papillon, and really reminds me a ton of Calypso and her Border Collie offspring, one in particular named Tempo who actually went to Crufts in the freestyle dog dancing division at only 2 years old and has been a dog dancing / performance dog from a very young age. Tempo's owner took Sprite for several weeks to work on tiny dog dancing and tricks, using him to help make YouTube videos and tutorials, and she raved about what an awesome sporty dog he is. Sprite has a lot of handler focus, biddability, and tenacity. He's willing to try anything! He loves water and swimming, and I'm planning on sending him to a friend for dock diving training later this year. He travels very well, he's quiet and clean in the crate and house, not at all a "yappy little dog" or one of those little dogs who are challenging to potty train. Hence why I call him a big dog in a little size, because he truly is just a fantastic dog!
Calypso, my do it all extraordinaire, you can read extensively about on her page, but to sum her up, she's the perfect dog. She is bubbly, happy go lucky, outgoing, confident, biddable, and has a bit of a "unicorn temperament" for the breed with her amazing temperament and character, which she has passed onto all of her previous puppies. Calypso has never met a stranger and loves people dearly. She's the life of the party at our sport trials where she impresses with her precision and skill, then steals everyone's heart with her woo-woo's and sweetness. Calypso has done some of almost every sport and gives everything her all, but what we've focused on the most is agility and obedience. She is my task and public access trained service dog, on top of being an awesome do it all sport dog. She also helps us a lot in our dog training business, by being a perfect helper dog who will work for any handler (even little kids) and also loves to help bring dogs out of their shell and socialize fearful or young dogs. She loves babies of all varieties, even baby goats and rats. Calypso is very high drive and has toy and food drive to spare, she loves to work and train and never quits, but she still has a great off switch and is a little angel around the house. She's been to more states than many humans, traveled by plane, done vanlife, you name it! Calypso is my very special girl and I find her to be the ideal mother for a fantastic litter of BorderPaps.
This litter will be suitable for a wide variety of sports and activities and have amazing temperaments.
