I am so excited to welcome the Butterflies, my first purebred Papillon litter! This litter is especially meaningful to me because Papillons are still a newer breed in my program, but one I have fallen completely in love with. After years of primarily living with and breeding Border Collies, bringing Papillons into my life has been such a joy. They are tiny dogs with enormous personalities, incredible intelligence, so much athleticism, and a huge amount of heart. Whimsy and Mana have both made me love the breed even more, and I am so happy to finally have puppies from them.
The goal for this litter was to produce beautiful, well balanced, structurally sound Papillons with stable temperaments, wonderful engagement, good drive, and the ability to be both fun sport prospects and lovely companions. I love Papillons who are confident, clever, social, athletic, trainable, and full of personality, and this pairing was chosen with all of those qualities in mind. I am hoping for puppies who will be wonderful companions and beginner to advanced sport dogs, with potential for things like agility, obedience, rally, tricks, fastCAT, and anything else their future owners may want to enjoy with them.
Whimsy is my first Papillon and truly everything I hoped the breed would be. He was born and raised with care by his breeder in Ukraine before I imported him at 11 weeks old, and from the moment he arrived he exceeded every expectation I had for him. He is happy, feisty, clever, driven, confident, and incredibly fun to train. Even as a tiny puppy, he handled all of the change and travel in his life with so much stability and bravery. Nothing seemed to phase him, and he immediately showed the kind of focus, enthusiasm, and work ethic I adore. Whimsy has always reminded me of a little Border Collie in Papillon form. He loves training, loves food, loves tugging, has a natural retrieve, and took to puppy discs right away. He is extremely attentive, quick to learn, and always eager to keep working. He earned his CGC at only 5 months old at a busy dog show, making him the youngest dog I have put a CGC on. He has trained in obedience, agility, disc, dock diving, fastCAT, tricks, and anything else I have introduced him to, approaching all of it with joy and confidence. He is a small dog with a huge presence, and he constantly blows me away with his intelligence, drive, bravery, and natural charisma.
Mana came to me at 10 months old and she has been such a lovely addition to my home and program. Her breeder had not advertised her as available, but brought her up while we were discussing another dog because she felt Mana would be a very good fit for me. I decided to bring her home, and I am so glad that I did. As Mana settled in from her long journey, her sweet and affectionate temperament really began to shine. She is a deeply loving little dog, very snuggly, gentle, and easy to live with. She would happily spend all day curled up in your lap, but she also has a wonderfully playful and athletic side. When she gets excited, she turns into a wild little shark, zooming around and snapping her teeth with joy. She has a lot of toy drive, came with a natural retrieve, loves fetch, has great hops, and puts toys deep in the back of her mouth with a serious little working dog like grip. She has also been turning on more and more to tug, which has been really fun to see. Mana integrated into my pack beautifully and gets along with everyone, but she is especially obsessed with Whimsy. He is her favorite dog, which makes this litter feel even sweeter. She is affectionate, bouncy, playful, and very easy to have in the house.
The Butterflies were born in the wee hours of the morning on June 16th, 2026, a few days earlier than expected. Mana delivered three tiny little girls smoothly and quickly, and she has been a wonderful mother from the start. She is attentive, careful, clean, and completely devoted to keeping her babies well fed and cared for.
This litter has come with some extra tenderness and watchfulness, as the second-born girl was born with a birth defect affecting her front left leg. She has been examined thoroughly by my vet, and for now we are letting her grow, monitoring her closely, and hoping there are no other underlying issues that we cannot see yet. She will likely be placed with a family member and stay close to home.
These puppies are still tiny and young, so there is a lot left to learn about who they will become. For now, I am simply grateful to have them here, growing well under Mana’s devoted care. I cannot wait to watch these little girls develop and see how they carry forward the qualities I love so much in both of their parents.
